Youth Program:

2010 SPRING RECREATION PROGRAM

Latham Circle Soccer Club is excited to announce that registration for the Spring Recreation Program is now open! Here is the pertinent info:

Youth Program Details:

  • This year's program will run six weeks from May 1 to June 12 for Grades 1-9.  Players in PreK & K will have games starting May 8.  No play on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
  • Age divisions will follow our typical format: PreK/K = “USA” Division; Grades 1&2 = “North American” Division; Grades 3&4 = “South American” Division; Grades 5&6 = “European” Division; Grades 7-9 = “World” Division.
  • PreK players must have been 4 years old by December 1, 2009.
  • All divisions will be co-ed.
  • Teams will be made as we get closer to the start date.
  • Time slots are 1 hour. We will follow last year's
    > scheduling: USA, South American, and World Divisions play at 10:30am; North American and European Divisions play at 12 noon.
  • Cost for USA Division is $35.
  • Cost for Grades 1 and up is $40.
  • Program T-shirts will be provided at the player's first game.  Players should attend games with a ball (size 3 for grade PreK-2, size 4 for Grades 3-6, size 5 for grade 7+), shinguards (required), cleats, and a water bottle.
  • The Spring Program is open to Recreation Players only - no Travel Players please!
  • Game location: North Colonie Sports Complex on Boght Road.  See http://latham.cornerkicksystems.com/page/show/17474-north-colonie-soccer-complex

Based on feedback from last year’s program, we’ll be keeping the short-sided format for games (e.g. 5v5, 7v7), but will scale back our use of various field formats, using our larger “kickback”-style goals more frequently for the older divisions.

All teams will have at least one coach, and all coaches are parent volunteers.  Therefore, parents: we need your help!  If you’re at all interested in helping us out on the fields, please indicate so when you register your child.  If you volunteer to be a coach please make sure you register yourself online – there is no cost associated with registering as a coach.  We will host a coach's clinic prior to the start of the season.  Because we use a different format for the spring program, we’d like all coach volunteers need to attend.

Adult Program

Adult Rec Soccer is back!  Our program is non-results oriented, and is meant to be a way for adults in the community to play the game, maybe learn more about the game, have fun, get some great exercise, and meet new people.  If you are a competitive soccer player looking for a competitive league - this is not it!!!

The season starts May 1 and will run until the end of June - we may continue through the summer depending on demand.  Games are one hour long, and will run on Saturdays before our youth rec program. There is a fee of $40 to participate.  You need to be paid and registered with a signed waiver in order to participate.  There will be a sign in sheet each week to ensure that only registered players are playing.  Click on the registration link from the left hand menu to register.

When help is needed, we will be asking adult players to help set the fields up for the kids Spring Rec program.

When registering, you will be asked to self evaluate your playing experience and physical condition.  Teams will be comprised of players with all different types of experience.  Again, if you're looking for a competitive team environment, this is not going to be it.

The rules of the game will be modified, we will send those rules out to all registrants.  Basically though, there will be no sliding or slide tackling, and for small sided games, no offsides.  Additionally, these games will not typically have a referee, therefore all fouls, out of bounds, hand balls, etc., will be called using the "honor system."  Please don't argue calls against you, just get on with the game.  If the club feels it's worthwhile, we may use these games to help train referees.  If we do, the referee is the final authority on the field, and we ask that you respect their decision - regardless if you agree with it.

Players that are too physical, argumentative, disruptive, engage in trash talk or other unsportsmanlike behavior will be asked to leave.

Please print out the waiver form, complete, sign and bring it to our first game on May 1.
